Singapore Airlines Cabin Crew Requirements

In this post, we list down the official requirements for Singapore Airlines Cabin Crew, and we also answer some of the common questions from SIA cabin crew hopefuls.

Requirements (for Singaporeans and Malaysians)

* Minimum age of 18 years old
* Females who are at least 1.58m; males who are at least 1.65m in height
* Degree/ Diploma
* At least 2 GCE ‘A’-level credits and 2 ‘AO’-level credits including General Paper in the GCE ‘A’-level examination
* At least 5 GCE ‘O’-level credits including English and working experience
* For Malaysian qualifications at SPM level, at least 5 credits including a minimum grade of B4 in English and working experience is required
* Completed, are exempted from, or are not liable for National Service. Those in the process of completing NS may also apply.

Requirements (for candidates from other countries)

Suitably qualified female candidates from Japan, Korea, India, China, Taiwan, Thailand and Indonesia are welcome to apply.

Additional Requirements:

  • Height: >=158cm (Girl) >=165cm(Guys). If your height is slightly below, you may still want to give it a shot. The height requirement is mainly due to the need to close overhead bins in the cabin.
  • BMI: 19-22. Weight is indeed a sensitive issue. I have known friends who have tried more than 6 times because of weight issue. However, in my opinion, this should be the least of your worry because you still improve on your chances, unlike height or preexisting health conditions.
  • Notice Period < 6 months. Thousands of cabin crew hopefuls are interviewed each year, hence SIA has no lack of suitable candidates. Hence they normally would not wait for a candidate for more than 6 months. So if you are studying, or working, make sure your notice period is lesser than 6 months, otherwise you may be wasting your time attending the walk-in interviews.

Above are the standardized requirements that all SIA cabin crew hopefuls should know. But there are also special cases, where individual circumstances differ. So drop us a note if you have any questions regarding SIA cabin crew requirements and we will do our best to answer your queries.
